How? Where? What? And who
actually?
Howdy, here's a little info about why we started this tournament, what we expect from it and where it's going. You should definitely read it, it's a good icebreaker at any party...maybe.
We, that's Fiana, Dagroran and Niz, have been playing Battlegrounds since its release. Over time, we've been able to convince more and more hardcore ladder specialists to give the mode a try. For a few months now, we've been playing a few rounds of BG together in the Discord almost every evening.
What started out as a follower goal for Fiana on Twitch has been fleshed out and expanded since November last year. Since tournament events in Hearthstone have generally declined significantly in recent years and were never really present for the BG community, we also wanted to give this part of the player base the opportunity to compete against other German BG streamers and the one or other familiar face from the various Twitch chats.
Hopefully we don't have to mention that the basic idea came from Blizzard and their Lobby Legends format ... who would have thought that with our name.
So what is our goal? Nothing more than to give people who like to play on the battlefield an opportunity to compete against like-minded people in a Lobby Legends-like situation, under the aspect that an 8th place does matter more, than the same placement online playing against randoms. If, as a nice side effect, it also expands the communities not only of us, but also of the participants, it's probably quite a win-win situation.
And where will it lead? In our only edition to date, 24 participants was the desired maximum, which we were able to achieve. This was due to the fact that each of us cast a group of 8 players, which allowed us to track and document individual placings. The only realistic increase at the moment would be to 32 players if there is sufficient interest. This means one more caster and only the first two of each group reach the final. However, this is still up in the air and needs to be well planned. After all, our aim is to guarantee a high-quality broadcast and a clean process in line with our capabilities.
Last but not least, we have to follow Uncle Blizzard. Since Lobby Legends has been canceled for 2024, no one can guess how long BG and Hearthstone in general will live. However, with the introduction of dual mode in Battlegrounds, the nail in the coffin should probably be a long way off, so hopefully we can still offer you many, many tournaments. We don't want to rule out increasing prize money and one or two invited top players, so stay tuned.
Understood everything? Perfect!
